The club was founded in 1949, with support from local businessmen in Gopibagh. Nicknamed the “Oranges,” Brothers Union emerged as one of the pioneers of Bangladeshi football during the late 1970s and early 1980s, alongside Abahani Limited Dhaka and Dhaka Mohammedan. Throughout its history, Brothers Union has built a strong reputation for spotting and developing young talent, particularly during the tenure of legendary coach Abdul Gafur Baloch, who led the team from 1972 to 1986.

Brothers Union, a prominent football club based in Dhaka, has a rich history that intertwines cultural and athletic achievements. Founded in 1949 as a cultural organization, it was initially led by the influential business tycoon K. G. Ahmed, who served as its first chairman. The club established its football team in 1973, entering the competitive arena by joining the Dhaka Third Division Football League.
Their determination and talent quickly became evident; by the following year, Brothers Union secured promotion to the Second Division Football League. In 1975, they clinched the Second Division title, which paved the way for their ascent to the top tier of Bangladeshi football.
The club’s crowning achievement came in 2004 when they won their first major title, the prestigious Dhaka League. This victory marked a significant milestone in their history, solidifying Brothers Union’s reputation in the realm of football and setting the stage for future successes. The club continues to be a vital part of Bangladesh’s football landscape, with a legacy built on resilience and community spirit.
